OUR ORGANISATION

      The school which laid the basis of the Technical College “PETRU PONI“ was established in 1956, the timing being extraordinary as it had been strongly demanded by the existence of the chemical platform at Borze?ti since 1953. It was this platform which was to provide its specialists.
      At that time, the development of education was supported by Ministries that co-ordinated the economic activity of the productive units. These units had the obligation of providing materials, specialists for the teaching of technical subjects and effective conditions for the practical period of the students, both in school and in the units. The school leavers were supposed to get a job in these units. Besides the Economic Ministries, The Education and Culture Ministry was also involved. It was mainly concerned with the problems related to the structure of the educational activity and to the perfecting of the educational staff.
      The school had vocational and apprentices classes, a technical school for workers and a foremen school.  
This structure was maintained up to 1966, when the Ministry of Education decided the founding of the Industrial High school which was specialized in electro mechanics at the beginning. During the following years, new specializations have been introduced in the educational plan, most of them, related to chemistry.  
      The revolution in December 1989 was the starting point for major changes in the entire Romanian society and also in the Industrial Chemistry High school in One?ti.  
      After several changes in the school’s title during the 49 years of existence, on the 19th of September 2000 it reached the actual title of “Petru Poni“Technical College.  
      The Technical College had a glorious existence, during this time preparing an enormous number of specialists. However it was not only the quantity that was remarked but also the quality of these specialists, the high school being the second qualified in Moldavia and the fourth in the entire country in the past years.
      • The total number of students studying at “Petru Poni “is 1458.
      • The students are distributes in 63 classes ( 43 day classes of high school, 2 evening classes and 18 vocational classes)
      • There is a number of 114 teachers teaching in this high school
      • The main domains of activity in the school are the technical profile, natural resources and environment protection, services and natural sciences.
      • The high school’s school leavers will have different specializations as technician in automatizations, technician in analyzing alimentary products, technician in financial and commercial activities, technician in electrotechnics, in industrial chemistry and many others.
      • The four buildings of the school house have 28 classrooms, 23 laboratories and 5 workshops.
      • At the workshops, the students have their classes of practical preparation, to complete their knowledge according to the specialization.
      • The school has a very modern library in which the students and the high school’s staff can find, besides the classical works of Romanian and universal literature, the newest publications in the fields they are interested.
      • The high school offers the students who don’t live in town the possibility to Accommodate in one of its hostels. The students can have their meals at the school’s refectory. They can also organize different celebration parties here.
